What’s all this then?

What am I planning on doing with this.

My plan for this substack is to go through the mysteries and wonders that is the world of cocktails and mixed drinks (yes, there’s a difference). What certifications and awards do I have that says you should listen to me? Absolutely none.

What I’ve got is over 20 years of digging into cocktail history, drinks, spirits, and the cultures around them. The name that I selected for this stack hearkens back to an old blog that started me down the rabbit hole of cocktails from back in the before time (it was a Yahoo blog, sadly lost to any searches that I’ve tried).

I do not plan to put any posts behind a paywall, as I’m doing this as an outlet for myself, not as a means to try to make money (although if it winds up making money, I won’t turn it down). My plan is to emulate that old blog in one way. I’ll do in depth posts on specific cocktails, including the history, theories, rumors, and wild speculations about how they came to be. What has changed over time (due to changes in tastes or products being discontinued), different variations, and my personal preference.

Before we get to that part though, I’ll be starting with repurposing some posts that I shared on another site a while back that go through the basics of cocktails and provide some insight into my thoughts on drinks.
